Forecast

Forecasting is a form of scientific research whose object is to anticipate the future characteristics of studied phenomena, usually in relationship to stated periods of time. It may also encompass prediction of specific events and new phenomena within a system. Forecasting may employ refined mathematical techniques and may be computer assisted. Forecasted results provide feedback on ways to achieve desired objectives so that any forecast producing a feedback effect on methodological or lanning considerations will generate a re-forecast taking into account the new planning. Forecasting may be closely allied with modelling.
