A respectful relationship to speakers and presenters, if they are experts or specialists. Become aware of dimensions to an issue that non-specialists may not have been exposed to. A useful balance to grassrooter types.

Mistrust of "grassroot opinion" including their own leads to a passive consumer type participation. Tends to accept "expertise" without question. Can become cynical when disillusionment sets in.
