Container and boundary

Experience of the physical world, including the people in it, tends to be described in terms of bounded objects. Each of these may be viewed as a container with an inside and an outside. Such objects may include areas such as fields and territories (whether fenced or not).

Experience of the psycho-cultural world, including the personalities, groups and belief systems in it, may be described in terms of bounded objects that may be viewed as containers having an inside and an outside.

The ubiquity of boundaries.

There is widespread recognition of personalities, groups and belief systems as containers with distinct boundaries, and when none exist these may well be projected onto whatever is perceived as in the case of events, activities and states (and even the 'visual field').
