Confession

A literary genre; essentially a 'sensational' autobiography, or pseudo-sensational revelation of intimate, secret, or otherwise private matters. The confessional form has veen adopted by some writers to put forward pious and devotional ideals. Famous writers of confessions have been St Augustine, Petrarch, J J Rousseau and De QUincey among others.
