Conference symbols

The symbols of an event are important and can be self-consciously developed. Symbols are either re-created or more difficultly created during the development and implementation of a conference. The development of new symbols requires a great deal of sensitivity and artistic ability. Most successfully utilized symbols are old ones that have been reinvested with meaning; that is, a new understanding of their significance has been created and interiorized by the organizers and participants.
