Computer-output microform

Microfilms or positive microforms are computer output of digitally stored data (on or off line). No intermediary print-out is required in the conversion by a computer-output microform recorder. Microforms afford the advantages of compactness for storage or distribution but require machine readers to enlarge. If hard copy print-outs are required the COM System which is already costly may become financially burdensome and require restrictions on usage. This may defeat in part the purpose of such an information system.
