Atmosphere and celestial symbols

This class of symbols includes mist, fog, rain, rainbow, cloud, thunder, lightning (thunderbolt) Aurora Borealis, storm, hurricane, tornado, wind, whirlwind, hail, snow, darkness, night, sunlight and day. Celestial objects appearing as symbols include Sun, Moon, Saturn, Morning Star, Evening Star, crescent Moon, Mars, comets, stars, constellations, zodiac, the Milky Way, nova, shooting star. Imaginary cosmic objects that appear in symbolism include the axis of the universe, the cosmic egg (the oviform shape of the universe, or of the universe-to-be), boundaries between dimensions, and the vault of heaven.

These symbols relate to qualities of action, such as agitated, calm, etc; and to circumstances of position, such as preeminence, transitoriness, etc. The moon, for example, indicates change, and also sometimes represents the mind and the subconscious. The zodiac are symbols representing twelve equal divisions of the sky. One of the symbols, Aquarius, or the Water-power, is said to represent an age of two thousand years which humanity is entering, and which is associated with altruism and service to others.
