Atlas

An atlas is a large volume of geography, containing maps, plates, engravings, tables, etc., with or without descriptive letter-press. It is an extremely useful visual tool for the study of geographical regions but the cost of a large and really good atlas can be prohibitive for individual use. Due to costs of production and purchase, atlases may not be updated and replaced with sufficient frequency to reflect the political changes of independence, border disputes, etc. In addition some atlases distort geopolitical facts with the biases of the country they are produced in.
