Alternative publications

Alternative publications generally treat subjects not normally presented in the daily or establishment press or express social and political views different from those generally admitted within the establishment. They are sometimes referred to as 'underground publications' and as such offer an outlet for political opposition in countries where it is not tolerated. On the otler hand such publications can be socially pestilential, inducing alienation, particularly among the young, and, in their more virulent forms, may incite persons to criminal actions.
