State of grace (Christianity)

In this state, the individual is totally receptive towards God. He neither demands nor expects the gift of grace from God but, insofar as he is able, he has, through God's grace, repented of and confessed his sins and opened himself to God's mercy.

In the Catholic Church, principal ways of obtaining grace are through prayer and the sacraments, in particular the Holy Eucharist.
