- Religious affections
- Gracious affections
Description
According to Jonathan Edwards, although natural and spiritual affections appear to have much in common, there is about spiritual affection something which is totally absent from natural affection. There is a difference not only in degree and circumstances but also in its whole nature, While still a "natural" man and yet denying natural affections and leading a religious life is against nature. If corrupt nature is not mortified, sooner or later nature will prevail. Nature has to be mortified and a new and heavenly nature infused. Then man will walk in a new and heavenly nature.
