Description

Individuals may adopt personal strategies to manage and direct their lives and change their own personalities and behaviour patterns. This may be done to further the person's social, career or intellectual ends. Such self-manipulation may also be undertaken by an individual through self-administration of drugs either to avoid suffering or distress, to improve bodily or mental performance, or to experience altered states of consciousness, including forms of ecstasy.
