Self-centredness (Sikhism)

In Sikh thought self-centredness is the root of all evil and arises from greed, lust, pride, anger and attachment to the values of this world. The individual is thus inclined towards evil and this produces the [karma]

that separates the being from God and chains him or her to the endless cycle of birth and death. Freedom from self-centredness leads ultimately to union with God, who is the source of life and pervades the whole creation.
