Second absorption in the immaterial sphere (Buddhism)

Hinayana Buddhism: The mind reaches the sphere of unbounded consciousness in the second absorption. Reasoning and deliberation are suppressed. This second jhana is characterized by inner tranquillity and one-pointedness of mind. It arises from concentration, and joy and happiness are experienced.

Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhism: In this state the object of meditation is the meditator's own mental aggregates or groups of conscious existence (khandas).

Hinayana Buddhism: The next two jhanas are in the spheres of nothingness and neither-perception-nor-non-perception.

Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhism: This is the second of the 4 formless absorptions (arupaya samapatti).
