Objective fourth state of consciousness

According to G I Gurdjieff, included among the states of consciousness, counting sleep and waking or clear consciousness, there are also flashes of self-remembering or self-consciousness of one's being. These are considered a third state, which is the precondition for a fourth, or objective, state of consciousness is which things are seen as they truly are. This latter is, therefore, enlightenment or truth, and is connected with higher mental functions. It is also connected with higher emotional functions and with conscience.
