Sodium amytal or sodium pentothal is slowly injected intravenously to produce complete relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing, under which conditions previously repressed memories and conflicts may be expressed. The therapist can them guide the patient through mental, emotional and behavioural rehabilitation.
