Khulla (Islam)

As opposed to 'ishq, or passionate love, this is the true devotion of love to one object, the supreme stage of affection, perfected in this life only by Muhammad and by Abraham towards God. It is the highest stage on the lists of Ibn al-Qayyim which comprehend both sacred and profane love, the perfection of love when the beloved permeates the most secret depths of the lover. In sacred terms, all secondary loves are consciously subordinated to love for God.
