Inner light

Just as it is not sufficient for the eye mechanically to register sight but the mind needs to interpret what the eye has registered, so what is seen spiritually needs some interpretation. Those whose eyes do not function until some medical intervention in childhood or adulthood frees their sight have great difficulty in learning to interpret the eyes' messages. What is seen is clearly affected by culture and environment - different cultures see textures and colours in different ways depending upon their experience. One could say that the history of scientific understanding of light is mirrored in the human consciousness following the study.
