Endurance

  • Perseverance
  • Staying power
  • Fortitude

Description

Spiritual development is marked by periods of progress interspersed with times when no progress is made. Enduring periods of discouragement leads to strength and, in the long-term, contributes to progress as well. In contrast, the Church indicates that without persevering, and in allowing one's self to fall away from grace, one may eventually fall into perdition.
