Ego transcendence (Jung)
Description
As the contents of the ego shift and change, the structure of the ego-complex expands and the previous "ego-image" - often mistakenly supposed to be the ego itself, and that which gives rise to the sense of "I" - is outgrown or transcended. This change in the ego constitutes, in Jungian terms, the [individuation]
process and is said to have its equivalent in Eastern philosophies in the Buddhist "not-self" or "no soul".
