Death-urge

It has been said that no-one can be truly aware that he is alive unless he is aware of his own death as a physical fact; this is the basis of tragedy and the authenticity of the human struggle. Life-urge and death-urge are therefore inseparably part of life, and the one cannot be understood without the other.
