Assertiveness training
Description
Non-assertiveness brings discomfort in social situations, fear and sometimes illness. Developed from behaviour therapy, assertiveness training works on the premise that assertive behaviour builds self-esteem and gives emotional freedom. The setting and achievement of specific goals are assisted by exercises and assignments. In this way, habits can be changed and roles altered. It has been particularly useful in assisting women to change their (socially reinforced) non-assertive roles.
